Mainsoft Reiterates Details of Enabling Microsoft's Internet Client Applications Porting
Strategic Relationship Brings Assortment of Native Microsoft Internet Client Applications to Solaris and HP/UX Platforms
SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Mainsoft, the leader in common
code-base cross-platform solutions for the enterprise, reiterated today the
details of its strategic relationship with Microsoft Corp.
Earlier this week,
Mainsoft announced that Microsoft Corp. (NYSE: MSFT - news) had selected its MainWin
solution to meet customer demands for a Solaris adaptation of Windows Media
Player, and that it had also signed an updated contract with Mainsoft securing
its Professional Services and the right to use MainWin to port Internet
Explorer, Outlook Express and potentially additional Internet Client
technologies to UNIX platforms.
Contrary to some industry speculation this
week, Mainsoft is not working with Microsoft to port any Microsoft Windows
applications, including its Office products, to the Linux operating system.
Through strategic agreements with Microsoft, Mainsoft has access to
Windows source code, including Windows 2000®.
Mainsoft has incorporated
several million lines of original Windows source code into its flagship
product, MainWin.
MainWin is an application-porting platform that allows
Internet software companies, ISVs and corporate IT professionals to write on
Windows and deploy simultaneously on Windows, UNIX.
MainWin has over one
million users worldwide and has been adopted by leading software vendors,
including Microsoft.
Members of the media who would like to arrange interviews with Mainsoft
executives or further discuss Mainsoft's solutions and its ongoing work to
port Internet Client applications to UNIX in cooperation with Microsoft Corp.
